NPPSH is a new, annual research symposium, hosted in 2016 by Maynooth University, that will bring together postgraduate students from across Ireland to share, discuss, and explore the ways in which we are rethinking and re-examining humanities research. Designed and organised by postgraduate students, for postgraduate students, our objective is to highlight the diverse and varied scope and depth of Irish postgraduate humanities research, especially research that illuminates collaborations between disciplines and the role of the humanities in the 21st century.

This inaugural symposium will coincide with Maynooth University’s Annual Dean’s Lecture on 13 and 14 October 2016. This year’s lecture will feature Sidonie Smith, Mary Fair Croushore Professor of the Humanities and Director of the Institute for the Humanities at the University of Michigan. Dr. Smith’s areas of speciality include autobiography studies, narrative and human rights, feminist theories, and women’s studies in literature.

The New Perspectives symposium will be hosted by An Foras Feasa, Maynooth University’s Humanities Research Institute. More details, including information on how to register, will be added to the NPPSH website in the coming weeks.
